Project Info
This was a young family who was looking for a level space to play ball with their son, and a place for outdoor entertaining for family and friends. The challenge was the steep slope of the lot. (It drops 15’ from the front left corner of the lot to the back right corner.) The lot was leveled using retaining walls to hold the rill on the left and gardens and a good sized playing field was designed for them to play ball together. An outdoor patio was designed with built-in seating and a fire pit, for multiple options for gathering spaces. Mom has a home office that looks out into the yard to the left, and I the view from her window is to inspire her, and draw her into the garden. It is a deck house and the large glass windows gave the inspiration for reflection that is mirrored both in the rills that run around the outdoor living spaces and the orchard which blooms white in the spring and yellow-orange in the fall. These themes are carried throughout the property.
